Alistair has drafted wills and administered estates since 1991 and has seen every possible version of a family falling out over a house. He is unhurried, he writes clearly, and he holds that a will explained properly to the family in advance prevents most disputes.
Zainab Qureshi — Partner, employment
Zainab acts for employees and employers in roughly equal measure, which she says keeps both sets of expectations realistic. She has run sixty-odd tribunal claims and settles the great majority before a hearing, usually because she can say precisely what the case is worth.
Tomás Ivanović — Head of conveyancing
Tomás and his team completed 612 transactions last year. He telephones every client on a Friday, including the Fridays when nothing whatsoever has happened, on the grounds that silence is the part people find unbearable about moving house.

How much will my matter cost?
About 70% of our work is on a fixed fee quoted in writing before the file is opened: conveyancing from £795, a single will £220, a settlement agreement review £350. Hourly rates run £195–£310, with a staged estimate and a warning before any stage is passed.
Who is my solicitor and can I reach them?
You are given a named solicitor and a direct line at the outset, and the same person handles your matter from beginning to end. We returned 97% of calls the same working day last year. If yours is in court, a colleague who has read the file will speak to you.
How long does a house purchase take?
Ten to fourteen weeks from offer to completion is typical, and the two things that slow it down are searches and the slowest party in the chain. We order searches on day one at our own risk rather than waiting for the survey, which saves roughly three weeks.
Are you regulated and insured?
Yes. We are authorised and regulated by the national regulator for solicitors, we hold compulsory professional indemnity insurance, and client money sits in a separate client account audited annually. Complaints go to the senior partner first and then to the independent legal ombudsman.
