Everybody sells insurance on price, and price is the least interesting thing about a policy. The interesting parts are the excess, the sum insured, the exclusions on page nine, and what happens between the phone call and the money arriving. We spend the first meeting on those four things; the premium is the last number we discuss, not the first.

What we cover

  • Household & contents — Buildings and contents insured on an accurate rebuild figure rather than a guessed one, with accidental damage included and a standard excess of €250 that you can vary to suit the premium.
  • Motor & fleet — Private cars, vans and fleets of three to ninety vehicles. Named-driver, any-driver and mileage-based options, with a courtesy vehicle arranged within 24 hours of a reported accident.
  • Commercial property — Buildings, stock, business interruption and loss of rent — with an indexation review at each renewal, so the sum insured keeps pace with rebuild costs instead of drifting a decade behind.
  • Liability & indemnity — Employer's, public and product liability, plus professional indemnity for firms that give advice for a living. Limits from €1 million to €20 million, quoted from four insurers as standard.

As an independent broker we hold agencies with 34 insurers, so we can place a risk that a single company would decline: a listed building, a business with two claims behind it, a driver with an eight-year gap in cover. When four insurers say no, the fifth quotation is worth the phone call.

More from the Insurance copy bank

The generator above shuffles the whole bank. Below is the rest of it, laid out block by block, so you can read the words before you paste them anywhere.

Hero lines

  • Cover that pays when it matters
  • Read the exclusions with us first
  • Claims settled in eleven days

An independent broker since 1988 — we place your risk with 34 insurers, and we work for you, not for any of them.

The average claim was settled in 11 working days last year, and 96.2% of claims presented were paid in full.

We read the policy wording aloud, so you find out about the exclusion now rather than on the worst day of your year.

Team bios

Miriam Vasquez — Managing broker

Miriam joined the firm in 1999 as a filing clerk and bought it in 2017. She reads policy wordings for pleasure, which she accepts is unusual, and she keeps a list of four insurers she will not place business with regardless of the premium.

Kwame Asare — Claims manager

Kwame spent eleven years as a loss adjuster, so he knows precisely how a claim gets scaled down and how to stop it happening. He handled 1,340 claims last year, and he will tell you on day one if he thinks yours is going to fail.

Lars Bergqvist — Commercial account executive

Lars looks after 460 commercial clients and visits every one of them at least once a year, usually carrying a tape measure. Two-thirds of the underinsurance he finds sits on buildings extended since the last renewal and never declared to anyone.

Quotes

“Our warehouse burned down on a Sunday in February. Kwame was on site by Monday morning, an interim payment of €150,000 landed on the Thursday, and the full settlement was agreed within eleven weeks.”

Fiona Tannehill, Director, distribution company

“Miriam went through the wording line by line and stopped at one clause: “this is the sentence that will cost you”. She was right — our old policy excluded exactly the thing we were most likely to claim for.”

Dmitri Rusev, Restaurant owner

“Four insurers declined us after two claims. These people found a fifth, at €1,900 less than we had been paying before the claims happened. I had genuinely given up by then!”

Charlotte Nkemdirim, Fleet operator, nine vehicles

FAQ answers

Do you charge a fee on top of the premium?

There is a policy administration fee of €35 on personal lines and €75 on commercial, shown separately on every quotation. We also receive commission from the insurer, and we will tell you the amount if you ask. Most brokers will not volunteer that figure, so do ask.

What is an excess and can I change it?

It is the first part of any claim that you pay yourself. Raising a household excess from €250 to €750 typically cuts the premium by 8–14%, which is worth doing if you would never claim for a small amount anyway. We will run both figures for you.

How quickly are claims actually paid?

Our average last year was 11 working days from notification to settlement, and 96.2% of claims presented were paid in full. Large or disputed losses take longer, so we arrange interim payments and you are not left funding the recovery out of your own cash.

What happens when the policy comes up for renewal?

We re-market it every year instead of letting it roll over, and we re-check the sums insured at the same time. Around 40% of clients stay with the same insurer, usually because that remains the right answer — but nobody here earns anything from you not looking.

Closing lines

Send us your current schedule and we will read it properly: what is covered, what is not, where the sums insured have fallen behind, and whether you are paying twice for the same thing. That review is free and takes about two working days.

Claims are reported on the main number between 8am and 6pm, and there is a 24-hour line for fires, floods and road accidents. Ask for Kwame — he would far rather hear about it on the night than on the Monday.
