The generator above shuffles the whole bank. Below is the rest of it, laid out block by block, so you can read the words before you paste them anywhere.
Hero lines
- Open late, poured properly
- A bar, not a nightclub
- Fourteen taps, one long counter
Fourteen taps, a back bar that changes every month, and bar staff who will tell you honestly when you are ordering wrong.
No table service, no bottle service, no queue at half past eleven — just a stool at the counter and someone who remembers your drink.
Happy hour runs 17:00–19:00 every weekday, and the kitchen keeps going until midnight for anyone who forgot to eat.
Team bios
Solveig Brandvold — Owner
Solveig spent nine years working other people’s bars before opening this one, mostly so she could stop arguing about the music. She writes the cocktail list, buys the whisky, and can be talked into opening something rare if the conversation is good enough.
Marco Tessaro — Head bartender
Marco came from a hotel bar where everything was measured to the quarter-millilitre, and he hated every minute of it. He is unfailingly quick, remembers roughly four hundred regulars’ orders, and makes the best Martini in the building — a fact he mentions often.
Dee Okonjo — Kitchen lead
Dee runs a two-metre kitchen and somehow sends six dishes a night out of it. She grew up cooking with her grandmother and still brines everything for longer than anyone thinks is necessary. Ask her about the croquettes and clear your evening.
Quotes
“I asked for something bitter and was handed a glass with no name on it, and it was the best thing I drank all year. That is the whole appeal of the place.”
Janneke de Vries, Regular since 2018
“We booked the back room for a fortieth and they let us bring our own playlist — which, given how seriously they take the music in here, was a genuine act of kindness!”
Rafał Sobczak, Hired the back room
“No televisions, no bottle service, no doorman with a clipboard. Just fourteen taps and a bartender who said “trust me on this one” and turned out to be right.”
Ines Bakker, Lives two streets away
FAQ answers
Do you take bookings for tables?
For groups of six or more, yes, and for the back room. Below that we keep the room walk-in only — holding tables empty on a busy Friday is how a bar ends up half full and feeling dead. Turn up and we will find you somewhere.
What time do you close?
Midnight from Sunday to Wednesday, 1:00 on Thursday, 2:00 on Friday and Saturday. Last orders are twenty minutes before that, and the stools go up ten minutes after. Nobody has ever been rushed out of here, but we do like to get home.
Is there anything for non-drinkers?
Six alcohol-free options that are not simply sugary: two 0.0% beers on tap, a house shrub with soda, and three cocktails built the same way as the rest — shaken, garnished, in proper glassware. Around 12% of what we pour on a Friday now has no alcohol in it.
Can we bring a dog?
Yes, downstairs and in the back room, and there is a bowl of water behind the bar for them. We only ask that they stay off the banquettes. During a private hire it is the person who booked the room who decides, so mention it when you book.
Closing lines
We are on the corner where the print works used to be — green door, no sign, which is either charming or infuriating depending on how long you have spent looking for it. If you are lost, ring the bar and somebody will come out and wave.
Open 16:00–00:00 from Sunday to Wednesday and until 2:00 at weekends. The kitchen stops an hour before the bar does. Come early if you want the counter, come late if you want the noise!
